Rebuild Boot Configuration File Windows 7

techtipsWhen I’m not writing comics or watching terrible films I also work as an IT consultant. Here’s a few things I’ve learned over the last 17 years.

Problem:

Post rootkit removal windows may not boot and display 7B stop error. This CLI command set can rebuild files necessary for windows 7 to boot
Solution:

>bcdedit /export C:\BCD_BU
>C:
>cd boot
>attrib bcd -s -h -r
>ren C:\boot\bcd bcd.old
>bootrec /rebuildbcd

Christmas party at Carol and John’s

15542071_1380720121972407_1940509100150987012_nYou know, when you think of a store “Christmas party” you think”I’ll go in and take advantage of the sale, maybe there’ll be cookies or something.”

When I think of the Christmas party at the comic shop, I think “Oh my God…have I actually been here for three hours?”

The annual Christmas party is one of the two biggest events every year at Carol and John’s – it’s the winter counterbalance to the spring Free Comic Book Day party.  There’s sales, give-aways, not to mention a food drive and an art show (Which I usually contribute to). This year I wanted to do something over-the-top for my outfit so insted of just an ugly Christmas sweater, I opted for an entire Elf costume over my Thing suit. It went nicely with the Joker and Santa that showed up for the evening….

Santa NEVER had elves like this before!

15492179_10208103904461814_5701756080931205652_nIt’s always a great time to visit with friends that I never seem to actually see outside of these events, mixed in with my local buddies from the Cleveland comic scene and Pop : the Comic Culture Club. It was also nice to connect with Ryan, a friend I had only previously interacted with on Facebook – from the Charity group Hero’s United that I’ve been doing events with. It’s probably my last trip out in costume until con season ramps up next year but we went out in style.

Cupcakes, choclates, cookies (supergirl cookies! Groot shaped cookes! WHY DIDN’T I GET PHOTOS????), custom brewed beer (I really just wanted the bottle!) and good friends. I mean, honestly, isn’t that what a Christmas party is supposed to be all about?

13 ghosts

remakesThir13en_Ghosts_posterWould you believe I was actually surprised to discover that 13 ghosts is not a remake that’s held in high esteem? Seriously I have enjoyed a lot of the early Dark Castle releases and 13 ghosts worked really well for me. I can see some things that might have grated on peoples nerves so so let’s look at a couple things that I would’ve done to make this better. As much as I enjoy Tony Schlub I’m almost tempted to say recast him. He’s good and he works but he’s so identified with Monk and with Wings. An unknown face probably would’ve worked better. I also would really like to have driven a stake through the heart of that stupid governess nanny whatever she was. The sassy black lady really irritates me as a stereotype and this one was more grating than most. The only other thing I could say that could’ve made this film better was if they had gone with the original gimmick. We still see their special glasses allow you to see the ghosts with in the film, imagine if something like this and been given out at the box office. Something that allowed you to see ghost at a certain time…perhaps the technology wasn’t quite there yet but 3-D was right around the corner and how this film really could’ve benefited from a good 3-D.

I would definitely go back and work in a lot of that with the ghosts and even show periods where you could put glasses on our just like in the old William Castle gimmick. The stuff worked for a reason and Castle is fondly remembered for it. With these kind of cosmetic changes I think this film could’ve been so much better period but you know what, I still like this film and I think I’ll go pop it in right now!

Outland

forgotten bannerThere’s this fascinating period in Connery’s career where he was doing all sorts of interesting off beat movies to break away from his James Bond persona.

Imdb’s plot synopsis : In the distant future, a police marshal stationed at a remote mining colony on the Jupiter moon of Io uncovers a drug-smuggling conspiracy, and gets no help from the populace when he later finds himself marked for murder.

This one was another video rental store staple, but really I’d love to see this on the big screen. The effects are surprisingly good, riding the coattails of the Star Wars boom while still keeping some depth. It’s hard to create real intrigue in Sci-Fi, the technology frequently takes center stage and robs the plot of time and development, but not here. this is much more a story about people, and it feels like one of those films that could only have been made in the 80’s

I love this, and if you can get your hands on it, this movie is definitely a buy.

Autographs

I can’t justify the ridiculous prices that the Walking Dead cast members charge at cons, but I’m not above writing letters and asking for autographs  through the mail….this was a thrill to get.

Jesus

definitive

My personal definitive way of drawing iconic characters

I don’t make any effort to hide my Christian leanings, and it’s only logical that I would spend enough time on the subject of Christ to have developed a definitive version.

Here’s the thing, when I pray, when I talk to Jesus, my mind’s eye pictures something I can relate to. The traditional robe and sash are fine, and I always draw him with dramatic long flowing hair, but to me the more personal Jesus is in a T-Shirt and leather jacket like me.

This Christmas, I challenge you to really find a personal way to relate to Jesus. This is my way.
